CONDITIONS OF THE ABSURD OPENS THURSDAY 4 APRIL 6 PM

Conditions of the Absurd is an installation by Michael Georgetti, opening on Thursday 4 April, 6-8pm at Articulate project space.

Conditions of the Absurd employs a composite art practice involving painting, kinetic sculpture, found objects and installation to explore the expanded field of painting in contemporary art.

A combination of machines, toys and household materials are strung together in an Absurdist fashion to conduct a series of moving situations and moments that portray the deconstruction of painting.

Reflections On The Monochrome - Part 2

Reflections On The Monochrome – Part 2 by William Seeto continues the examination of developments in work with light, space and imagery that explores practice in relation to a pictorial, non-linguistic engagement with Non-objective Abstraction.
As a practising artist for over thirty years, the artist continually revisits visual and kinaesthetic perception, of what is observable but not easily understood. His practice relates to a pictorial, non-linguistic psychological strategy of engaging with Non-objective Abstraction that alters and augments perceptual awareness.
With this new site-specific installation, attention is drawn towards the works own abstracted state, that is, work that can be said to be self-conscious if not reflexive with regard to the extremities of its abstraction. It continues past discourse and understanding of distortion, perception and manners of reading in a wide range of fields that repositioned abstraction in painting, sculpture and architecture.

Exhibition: 4-6 January 2013
Opening: 12-3pm, Saturday 5 January
Open Hours: 11-3pm, Friday-Sunday, 4-6 January

TRACEY CLEMENT: PLASTIC CITY - VISIT THE ARTIST AT WORK FROM TUES JUNE 19

Plastic City represents the annual consumption of one individual. The miniature buildings are made from every plastic container Clement bought during 2010; they were stored instead of recycled.

The vaguely sci-fi style of the mini city’s ‘architecture’ is an invitation to think about the future. Plastic City embodies a number of timely questions about the types of cities we want to live in, sustainable practice in urban environments and personal responsibility. Visitors should leave asking themselves, “How big would my Plastic City be?” In this case, bigger isn’t better.

About the Artist: Tracey Clement is an artist and writer. She has exhibited widely in Australia as well as NZ, the UK and the USA. Plastic City is her sixth solo show in Sydney. She has a Diploma in Jewellery Design, a Bachelor Degree in Art History-Theory and a Masters degree in Sculpture. Clement’s work is held in both private and public collections, including the Smithsonian in Washington DC. She is the former editor of the Metro Art Page in the Sydney Morning Herald, and current editor/writer of the blog, The Post Post. Clement also contributes regularly to several magazines
